Trainer

James is a sports scientist and is no stranger to elite level competition, having competed at both European & World Championship level as a distance runner. He uses his in-depth knowledge of exercise physiology to ensure that the AAD training systems are in line with the latest scientific research. National champion track runners and cyclists are amongst the athletes with whom James has worked, although he has recently been concentrating on elite level football.

When asked, what advantage does an AAD athlete have over his opponent on the pitch, James said,

“Put simply, he has the ball. Pitched against another player for a loose ball, the athlete that has underwent weeks of soccer specific speed, strength and agility training will command any 50/50 contest. On the field of play, winning possession is determined by the smallest of margins, a millisecond, an inch, a blade of grass. Training with AAD is focused on gaining these marginal improvements in players game’s that transfer to the pitch with significant consequences”.

By day James works in the national rehabilitation hospital in Dun Laoghaire, and is involved with delivering some the the world’s leading injury rehabilitation programmes. James is a real asset to the AAD team and we are delighted to have him!
